I was looking for porcelain soup bowls to cook miso soup in, with matching porcelain spoons – because miso soup is just not the same without these, and this dish set was perfect.
The shipment came as estimated (August 2), all the way from San Francisco, CA. I was worried that the package would get mishandled along the way (as some of my shipments did), but the vendor was very careful in packing it with caution written on the box to warn the courier to be careful (and the courier heeded it). I was expecting it to look like it just got pulled out from a dusty crate in a warehouse (dust included – I am very skeptical). The product came with an expertly packed box, tightly stuffed with newspapers to prevent being knocked around, and I was also surprised at how nice the actual box of the product was (see customer image). It’s very presentable, so you can just wrap the box with a bow and it’s the perfect gift!
The dish set is just good for 2 people, with 2 soup/rice bowls, 2 pairs of chopsticks, 2 sauce dishes and 2 dinner dishes (for your potstickers, sushi, or other stuff). The dishes look pretty durable, unlike delicate china, but I don’t think they’re dishwasher safe.
Although initially I was just looking for soup bowls, this was a good deal – now I can enjoy eating Asian dinners with these!
