Review by J. Hawkins for Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4, Chocolate Mint

Okay, I decided to write a review about this particular design of Corelle because there was one flaw!!
The ACTUAL color of the designs on the plates are much lighter than pictured here. I thought this was a good mix of masculine and femanine (definitely refreshing compared to all the florals this company usually has) and was totally in love with the darker colors.
However, upon receiving these plates, the colors are really more pastel and “girly”. The dark lines are a lighter brown- but look almost black in this picture. Mine also have a few ‘mistakes’ in the pattern- smudges and things. This could be due to the fact that this is a brand new design and all the kinks haven’t been worked out yet.
So, if you get over the color issues these really are fantastic plates. I grew up with Corelle plates and was looking forever for a modern and fresh design. After about 12 years my mother decided to get rid of her/our set because she was sick of them! Not one plate broke. Even after being dropped and banged into things multiple times. So the plates outlived her desire to have them. They never scratch and are so functional and pratical that it is unbelievable. Just find a design you really like because you won’t ever have to get rid of these! No chipping, no scarring, and they always look as if you just bought them. Even years and years later. Great for every day use especially in a family full of kids.
In the end I decided to keep the two sets of this design I ordered and it has grown on me. It is a great design, but would be better if the color was bolder as it is in the image here. I love the fact that this set came with mugs…but realize that they are stoneware and not the same material as the plates so they probably won’t last as long. I wish they would offer luncheon plates in this design too!

I really liked the design of this set. It has a fun and playful design which is great for everyday use. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because one of the sets, even though the same design was less bright then the rest. The greens and blues just weren’t as brightly colored. More like they had some fading. Must be something that happened at the factory because from what I know, the colors will never fade. These were a great price too!

I ordered 2 sets of these dishes and am very happy with the quality and style! Great price too. They arrived within a week, right before Thanksgiving. Corelle always stands the test of time and I am looking forward to getting tired of these dishes in the future.(so I can get a new set!)

I was a bit hesitant at first about ordering this product via Amazon because of some the negative reviews I had read about their shipping mishaps with Corelle dishes. However, I decided to do so and was glad that I did. The dishes came in tact. I was also very pleased with the pattern of dishes I chose. I was looking for something casual that would please both my partner’s taste as well as my own, and happily succeeded. Happy Shopping

The other reviewer was right, the colors aren’t as dark as you see in the product description and the green is a bit more of a lime green/chartreuse color.
The bread and butter plates are too small for kids to use so I went ahead and purchased the 8 1/2″ luncheon plates. The plates are durable, hold up well in the dishwasher and they don’t take up much space in the cabinets. The pattern is a little more modern than the standard flower Corelle pattern.

At first I was concerned that the pattern was a decal, but read on the box that it was painted and fired. The pattern felt and appeared chalky, however was quite beautiful after being washed in the dishwasher and even better the second time. I love them.

I thought these would be mediocre when I purchased them for my mother – but she LOVED them. She kept going on and on about how pretty the print was. They are good quality and look nice, not tacky!

I already had a 20-piece set in this pattern from another store, but I wanted 8 servings so I ordered a second set. I’ve had my original set for more than 6 months and it’s durable and very pretty. This set did not come in the original packaging like the other set I ordered – it was packed in plain brown cardboard. It was, however, well-packed and everything made it in one piece.
As other reviewers noted, this item doesn’t match the product description. There are 4 dinner plates, 4 small plates, 4 cereal bowls, 4 small dessert bowls, and 4 stoneware mugs. For whatever reason, this new set came with 5 dessert bowls, which works out well because the blue trim on one doesn’t look quite right.

These dishes were purchased as a Christmas present for my mom-in-law. We had looked at them at an outlet store but knew ordering on line was the way to go with free shipping. She has had Corelle dishes for years but just the plain white ones. She is very happy with her new pretty floral pattern. I don’t think you could ask for a better product. They are light weight, stack in limited cupboard space, very rarely chip, stains clean up easily with baking soda, fit nicely in the dishwasher and come in a wide variety of patterns. My Mom has also used Corelle for years and so have I and my two sisters. I’ve even given them to my son since graduating from college to set up his own housekeeping.

My husband has been after me to replace our nice, but chipped dishes for quite a while now (I got them for our wedding and still loved them after 30 years) and I had been putting it off… I finally bought the Corelle dishes in the Summer Meadow pattern since they are known to be chip resistant and I wouldn’t have to worry about the grandkids as much.I expected them to feel a little “cheap” because they were so light weight and was hoping they wouldn’t look too “granny”. But I wanted the additional bowls since we use them a lot and didn’t want to spend a fortune on dishes right now.
After having them for several weeks now, I admit I like them very much. I actually counted them to make sure there was really 12 in the stack (because they took so little room in the cupboard) and it is much easier to wash and care for them. The colors are more subtle and much prettier in “person” than the photo.
I wish there were more accessory pieces – but I purchased Corelle plain bowls and platters in white – and found the Noritake Colorwave in Sky is the perfect soft blue and matches it amazingly well – so there were the salt/pepper/creamer/butter,gravy etc to match. (Unfortunately the color has been discontinued by Noritake so get them quick while the bargains are there and they are still available).
My husband likes them also so it was a good purchase. Since then, my sister ordered a set in a different pattern is also happy with hers. Chip free, practical and pretty is a good thing!
