Rating:
Although some may see the handle as clumsy it is perfect for anyone with arthritis. The former style did not leave room for any kind of finger problem. These are a great substitute.

UPDATE 2 (GREAT customer service!): After waiting about a month for the replacement cups, I contacted the company and they forwarded a UPS tracking number showing that the replacements had been delivered to our house just a few days after my initial complaint. Somehow, we missed or mislaid the package – our own fault for not being on the lookout. I thanked the customer service representative and made it clear we didn’t expect her to do anything more for us.
But a few days later a SECOND set of replacement cups arrived! This is such an extraordinary display of consideration that I’ve upgraded the rating to 5 stars (despite the broken handles) for customer service above and beyond all expectations. The new cups and the rest of the old ones are holding up well under frequent use. They’re our favorites for morning coffee – large, heat-conserving, and comfortable in the hand.

UPDATE on March 1, 2010: I wrote to the company a little over a month ago and they replied immediately, offering to replace the broken mugs. That was great, but we are still waiting for the replacements to arrive.

We liked the size, shape and appearance of this large mug, and the company’s reputation, so we bought six in the cobalt and peacock colors.
But after several months of regular use, two of the cobalt mugs lost their handles. They just came away easily from the body of the mugs without being dropped or jolted. I’ve never had this happen to a mug before. I notice that the area where the handle connects to the body is distinctly lighter than the rest of the glaze and wonder whether this reflects some manufacturing defect.

While this mug holds a good bit of liquid, stylistically it has much to be desired. The bulky handle on the square/round shape is really awkward to look at and to hold. Does not go great with other traditional round Fiesta. But at least its serviceable, if not particularly attractive.

We use a Keurig coffee maker and my husband doubles up on its output. In short he needs a 14 oz mug, or it will run over. Although these are advertised as 14 oz, they can only handle a maximum of 12 oz. More then 12 oz and they overlfow. Hard to believe the manufacturer does not know the size of their own mugs!
