I ordered this set and love it very much…The only problem was 3 out of the twelve dinner plates were broken! I was very disapointed…I mean how do you return 3 “broken too pieces” dinner plates?

I ordered this for a gift. Two dinner plates and one salad plate arrived broken. From other reviews it seems this is not unusual. Nowhere on Amazon could I find how to exchange 3 pieces. Send it all back? You have got to be kidding- ask someone who received it as a gift to box it all up? So, I ordered the pieces from another site and will now limit my spending on Amazon.

I was looking to replace my Mikasa dishes or add to my current stash,and found my pattern was no longer available. A whole new set would have been very expensive. I just needed plates and bowls. I have every serving piece they made. I order and rec’d on time and in excellent condition 8 new place settings. Free shipping and a super price made me make this purchase. I was looking for a set of dishes that I could use everyday but would also look good enough for company. That is what I found in these English Countryside Dishes from Mikasa. They are light in weight – like fine china, but sturdy enough for everyday use. The white on white pattern is very classic. The service through Amazon was wonderful and my dishes arrived promptly without any damage. I am very satisfied with these dishes and would recommend them to anyone wanting something a little dresser than the “heavy” stoneware dishes that are so predominate.

I was looking for an all-white set of dishes but not the plain restaurant kind. This pattern has pretty flower, fruit, and lattice designs on the rim. The only negative is that the dinner plates are so large, they don’t fit in the dishwasher. I have to put them along the edge of the basket so that the spray arm doesn’t hit them.

I loved my Italian Countryside set when it arrived, the neutral color without being totally plain was exactly what I wanted, having gotten tired of blue stoneware that clashed dreadfully at the holidays. I unpacked them and washed them and got ready to put them away… and HELLO… the dinner plate won’t fit in my older style 12″ upper cabinet!! I was standing in the kitchen ready to cry because I thought I was going to have to send them back until my handy husband was able to rout out the back of the cabinet door enough to let them fit. The plates stick out just far enough that the door wasn’t closing, so measure your cupboards before ordering. Other than that I like the set very much. A few small flaws in the glaze on the back of the dinner and salad plates but none on the upper surface. I also love having so many other pieces available in the pattern. I am also quite happy that my very hard on the dinnerware husband has not broken or chipped a single dish yet. That is testament to the dishes not to his being more careful!

I love the dishes and posted a positive review on the 45-piece set. With this particular item I ordered two sets. The sets were shipped separately and oddly the top salad plate in EACH BOX was broken. Seems like Mikasa needs to re-think the packing for this configuration. (Amazon’s outside packaging was good with those air-bubble spacers in the box.)
I will add one comment about the size of these dishes. Both the plates and the cereal bowls are OVERSIZED. I was really surprised at the size of the cereal/salad bowls.

I received my dishes earlier than expected. I excitedly opened the box to find 5 of the dishes were completey smashed. I see by other reviews that this has happened before. Although Customer Service was very polite and I will be sent a replacement, it was very inconvenient and now will take longer to get them. I do plan on adding to this set, but will think twice about ordering it from here. Amazon, you might want to rethink your packaging. Just a suggestion.

I chose Mikasa’s Italian Countryside 6 years ago when I got married. I have been using it continuously this entire time and have only chipped 2 pieces (small chips). The nice part is that this dinnerware can really take a beating. It goes with everything and is nice enough to use for formal dinners as well as everyday stuff. My sister liked my pattern so much she ordered it for her upcoming wedding too!
