This set of plastic cutlery looks like it’s been dipped in chrome. It looks a lot nicer than regular black/white/clear plastic utensils. But, it still feels like plastic utensils. I would say the weight and strength is comparable to regular plastic utensils and not the heavy duty variety. The forks had difficulty lifting larger hunks of barbecued meats as the handles would bend. None snapped under pressure of normal use though.
Initially, I was afraid that the metal would chip off and end up in the food but that didn’t happen. I even washed a couple with a scrubby sponge and was pleased that they help up wonderfully–no chips or scratches. Thus, I was satisfied that there would be no metal flakes in my food or the food I serve to guests.
My guests enjoyed these utensils and liked the way they looked. Some were even hesitant to throw them away. I would buy them again for nicer get-togethers, birthdays, showers or afternoon tea. I would not use them for really casual backyard barbecues because there is not enough place settings to go around in such a small package and I would have to buy several packages to have enough. Plus, they don’t feel durable enough for that kind of rough and tumble use.

We tried the Mozaik cutlery at dinner last night with my in-laws. One nice thing about them is the set comes with twice as many forks as knives. We’re always running low on forks and we always have extra knives and spoons. This way, we could have a dinner fork and a salad fork.
We found the Mozaiks to be quite durable. They bend but don’t break. They cut ham and baked potatoes just fine. My father-in-law noticed the backs of the utensils have a groove to provide more strength than if they were flat.
I threw them in the dishwasher and they held up. No problems melting or anything. I could not pick them out of the basket from my stainless steel flatware without touch or close visual observation of the pattern.
I would recommend Mozaik for dressed up picnics and large events where you want a touch more elegance than white plastic.

This is an odd product. Exactly what the purpose of “fine looking” plastic spoons and forks are is beyond me. I suppose this is cool for wedding receptions and things like that. While I don’t really understand the purpose I can’t fault the quality. These things are tough and look quite nice.

I would give this product five stars for looks, three stars for durability. They look nice, definitely classier than the usual disposable fare. I was expecting them to be sturdier — maybe because they look so much like the real thing — but found that they aren’t really any stronger than the cheap disposable ones you can find at your local grocery store. It is sad that these aren’t biodegradable but clearly the purpose of this product is more for looks than for anything else. I would consider purchasing these for a fancy occasion where not too much cutting or heavy spearing is happening.

These are not ordinary looking or thin plastic cutlery. They look like real cutlery, but they are actually plastic. However, the plastic can go through our diswasher and the other day I used one of the knives to skin an apple and dig out the stem and bottom (flower) area without problem. However, I am thinking the set is worth about $12 to me. I don’t think I would be happy to pay $35+ for it.
