I just can’t rave enough about these beautiful dishes! I love all the bright colors, the fact that they are all different patterns in the same colors keeps me from getting bored of looking at the same thing everyday. I really think they are the most beautiful and fun dishes I have ever owned. Check out the adorable book that goes with the set! These are on my highly recommended list if you love the look of Tuscany, the Mediteranian or just something truly unique, you will fall in love with these gorgeous dishes!

By the way, they are also no longer made in Pennsylvania- another huge disappointment. They come from the new heartland of America, China. Honestly, that was the biggest disappointment of all. I am keeping them, but I am kind of bummed.

Having had experience with Pfaltgraff in the past, I was expecting these dishes to live up to the set that my family has had for the last thirty plus years- which are beautiful hand-painted clay that have, well, lasted for over thirty years. These dishes look beautiful in the pictures, but only certain parts (the solid colors) appear to be hand painted- the designs are all decals that look pretty darn cheap. You can even see some pixellation in the colors if you look closely. (In fact, if you decide to get the risotto dish- be warned: It is *super* cheesy with little violet stickers on it that look really out of place and it has script that says “a risotto of welcomes and beginnings.” Eek!)Also, the colors are far duller than they appear in the picture and the predominate color is actually peach. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought it would be more of a gold-toned rusty color. It’s peach. That being said, these are solid, heavy, large pieces that feel really sturdy and are comfortable to use. It makes for a lovely table if you stand at least ten feet away and scoop risotto from one side only.

This set completely exceeded my expectations! The table setting is beautiful and rich looking – You feel as if you are dining in an excellent restaurant. The tableware feels of high quality, very sturdy, and the price beats anything I have seen anywhere, in-store, or online. If you like the pattern and the look, you cannot go wrong with this product.

My husband suprised me with these dishes after I had been admiring them online for a while. They arrived a few days ago, and are more beautiful in real life! Can’t wait to see what other accessories I accumulate as time goes by. I would recommend this set to anybody who is going for a classy, sophisticated, yet fun look for their dining room!

The design certainly is appealing, but be warned that it has not been painted by hand on each piece. There are none of the individual variations from piece to piece that you would see in truly handpainted dinnerware. In addition, wherever the blue patterned border occurs (on the mugs, the rim of the dinner plates, and the exterior of the bowls), the glaze is not smooth. Instead, the pieces have a textured surface in those areas, made up of a pattern of small dots (like what you would expect from an old dot matrix printer, except that here it’s a texture imprinted into the glaze). To be honest, I’ve never seen anything like it, and I don’t find it appealing. It’s a shame; the pattern is lovely, but the lack of a smooth glaze detracts from it and makes it clear that decals, not handpainting, were used to apply the design to the dinnerware. So the original design probably was handpainted, but the design on the individual pieces surely was not.
One more note: the mugs are really, really large! Works great if you like that, but not if you prefer a smaller cup.
